Academic Writing
Prepare for high school and beyond!
This one-week course takes learners through the three genres of academic writing: research, argument/opinion and informational writing. Learners engage real world artifacts as model texts.
This course is appropriate for all level of writers.

Session is limited to 10 learners
To ensure Learners can continue to utilize their learning during the 2025-26 academic year, we encourage learners to have access to Google Drive as a storage space for writing models.
Strong writers are developed from studying the craft of writing. Learners should be prepared to engage texts from their favorite hobbies whether that be video gaming, anime, fashion, or sports.
This course is best for ages 13-16 years old.
About the instructor:
Dr. Lanette Jimerson is a writer, scholar and educator with 20+ years of experience teaching writing. She has taught secondary English as well as entry level college reading and composition. To ensure that learners are engaged Dr. Jimerson leverages individual’s interests to develop college level writing proficiency.
Dr. Jimerson earned her M.A. and Ph.D. from the University of California, Berkeley
