I shared with Lanette that I had become increasingly frustrated with the pace of writing and publishing. Submitting to academic journals and submitting op-eds are such long processes that felt unable to use my writing to address the rawness that I and others were feeling as a result of the injustices and violence against Black people. Lanette encouraged me to publish articles on Medium and in so doing I could immediately become part of conversations that mattered to me. It worked! When I published my piece about Tyre Nichols, people with whom I shared the piece thanked me. The piece did not reach a huge audience, but it mattered.
