Translating Face-to-Face Lessons for Online Learning

Translating Face-to-Face Lessons for Online Learning

This workshop will support educators in all contexts (traditional school and afterschool programming) to translate their learning objectives for an online format. Often when teaching F2F the design of the lesson is situated around the materials and there are multiple strategies utilized to support learners in reaching the objective. In an online platform, learning objectives must be made visible within the constraints and affordances of the technological tools. To make the appropriate shifts educators need a deep understanding of the cognitive aspects of the learning objective and the various modes available.

In this two-hour session educators will learn:

1.     How to identify the type of learning objective (process, product, informative, distributive).

2.     The decision points in translating the learning activities for a particular learning objective.

3.     Technological tools that can support meeting the identified learning objective
